Wednesday Recipe - Cranberry Meatballs.

Yummm!  In the mood just because!
I love cranberries and the tangy bite of the BQ sauce goes great with them.  Though given the calories this needed to be tweaked for my needs.  My tweak is to use ground turkey instead of ground beef.  Also, substitute Agave for the brown sugar.

The suggestion on the All Recipe site is to serve as an appetizer or along with the turkey dinner, but I can see this as a stand-alone meal, especially when the granddarlings are over.  Add potatoes and a veggie and voila…the gang will be happy campers.

Cranberry Meatballs
Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground beef  (ground turkey works too)
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
1 (16 ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce (can cut back on)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (substitute Agave syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions
1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. (175 degrees C).
2.  Mix together the hamburger, bread crumbs, eggs, soy sauce, pepper, garlic powder and ketchup. Form into small balls and bake for 30 minutes.
3.  In a saucepan over low heat, combine the cranberry sauce, barbecue sauce, brown sugar and lemon juice. Simmer and stir until smooth. Add meat balls and simmer for I hour. Serve warm.

Monday Snippet - DEAD Hunter

Today's snippet is from DEAD Hunter.  The release is set for Friday and reading through the galley I couldn't believe how much seemed new.  It was my story...matched up with my word doc., but it's funny how once a book is behind you most of it fades into the background.  Reading it there were moments when I stopped and thought...this is a good story.  Really like this book.  Then it would occur to me...wait, it's mine!

So here's today's snippet and the cover which I think is really cool.

“I’m sorry.  I don’t believe we’ve met.”  The doctor stepped forward and held out his hand.  “I’m Jonas Nickels.”

“ArieAnne Hews.”  His fingers curved around hers and he gave her the smile. Chills played across her neck, but the spasms of heat that flowed down her body canceled them out.  For the first time since she’d undergone her vampire hunter training, Arie chose to disregard all the signals.

DEAD Hunter releases Friday, August 17th at Musa Publishing.

Monday Snippet: DEAD Hot

The current WIP is DEAD Hot. I can see my editor tapping her foot as I write this...can you say impatient?  She wants it yesterday, but she’s going to have to wait a little while longer.  After all, I can’t send her what’s not ready…right!  She’s probably looking at this going: “Why aren’t you writing instead of blogging?”  So I’ll make it short today…no need to annoy more than usual…*g*

Anyway, thought I’d share a few unrevised and unedited (expect plenty of those as fast as I’m writing this one) lines with you.

Plot:  Sharla is a shifter who isn’t thrilled with her alter ego when the change happens, but genetics are what they are.  Nor is she happy with the fact when she stresses she has no control over shifting…it just happens.  The one thing that does give her joy is watching Dorsey, the hunky bartender at All Halloween.  The daydreams she’s had about this guy are X rated.

Snippet:
Not only would she be soaking wet when she got home, but she be chilled to the bone.  What to do? What to do? For such a smart woman, there were times when she could be awfully wishy-washy and that part of her led to stress…like now.

And stress leads to lack of control.  Like now! Damnit!!
